Regional Forum on Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship

UNIWORK: Strengthening Career Centers in Central Asian higher education institutions to empower graduates in obtaining and creating quality employment

Currently, youth unemployment is among the primarily important issues in all countries, as we are witnessing dynamic growth of working-age population in parallel with the development of economies. As a result, as well as dues to lack of appropriate entrepreneurial skills among youth, graduates of higher education institutes face several difficulties in finding quality employment. This fact highlights the top importance of enhancing youth employment opportunities within agendas of governmental policies.

In this context, National Forums on Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship were organized in each of the Central Asian countries in the framework of the UNIWORK project. Within Forums, current situations of youth employment and entrepreneurship in each country were analyzed, experiences and success stories in this field were shared, the role of Career Centers of universities were determined. As a result, recommendations on national strategies on improving youth employment and promoting entrepreneurship, as well as on stimulating ties between higher education and industry were elaborated.

Regional Forum on Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship will be held on 10-11 March 2016 will bring together experts and participants from universities, ministries of education, chambers of commerce and the business sector from all countries of the Central Asia, as well as from European Union, for the discussion of the above-mentioned issues at the regional level.
